Hadith of the month

"And Allah desires that He should turn to you (mercifully), and those who follow (their) lusts desire that you should deviate (with) a great deviation. (27) Allah desires that He should make light your burdens, and man is created weak."

Religious Services & Programs

The Al Sabur Mosque strives to fulfill the spiritual and religious needs of the Muslim community in Cape Hazard through providing several religious programs encompassing all aspects of Islamic spirituality and worship and aims at strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood and achieve nearness to Almighty God.

Al Sabur is committed to providing the following religious and educational services:

Daily Prayer:

The Mosque is open daily for prayers. Regular business hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 PM Monday through Sunday except Saturday.

Friday Prayers (Jum'a):

Friday prayers (Jum'a) are established weekly and the sermon is delivered by Imam Hassan Al Sadiq. The Friday sermon (Khutba) is in English and is followed by the prayer. The Friday prayer begins with the Khutba at 12:30 pm (daylight saving 1:30 pm) and concludes with the prayer at 1:30 p.m. (2:30 daylight savings). Since the Friday prayers fall on a business day, the mosque offers lunch immediately after the prayer to make it easy on those who attend the prayers in lieu of lunch break.

Dua Kumeil:

A special supplication that is recited every Thursday night. It was named after Kumeil Ibn Ziyad Nakhai who was a confidant amongst the companions of Amir al Muminin, Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS.) Imam Ali then advised Kumeil to recite this "Dua" on the eve of (i.e. evening preceding) every Friday, or once a month or at least once in every year so that, added Imam Ali, "Allah may protect thee from the evils of the enemies and the plots contrived by impostors. O' Kumeil! in consideration of thy companionship and understanding, I grant thee this honor of entrusting this "Dua" to thee."

Eid Celebrations:

Al Sabur organizes community celebrations commemorating the Islamic Holidays of Eid ul-Adha and Eid UlFitr. The celebration starts with the Eid prayer followed by the sermon, and concludes with community breakfast. An Eid carnival with games and fun activities for children and their families is often organized on the weekend following the Eid.

Ramadan Program:

The Ramadan Program is the highlight of Al Sabur’s spiritual and religious activities. The mosque offers special reading of the Holy Quran every night, special supplications and commemoration of the Night of Destiny or Power during which the Quran was revealed. After the sunset (Maghrib) prayers, fasting Muslims and their guests enjoy the traditional after dinner in the Social Hall, followed by Quran recitation.

The Al Sabur greatly encourages its members to participate in the annual Hajj. It provides religious guidance and spiritual leadership before the Hajj trip by providing Hajj information and Hajj simulation. Also, information on Hajj Tours and groups and an orientation workshop for those embarking on Hajj will be provided. Contact information for Hajj authorities and travel agencies are provided so pilgrimages will obtain their airfare tickets, visas and accommodations. Upon the return of pilgrimages, the Al Sabur organizes a welcome celebration program with the community.

Friday / Saturday Night Programs:

The Islamic Cultural Center of Cape Hazard offers its members and visitors a variety of lectures and educational seminars on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 PM every week. The Programs address contemporary Islamic topics and historical / educational issues affecting the global Muslim community in general, American Muslims in particular and the extended community.
